Mag Locks

Electro-magnetic locks (mag locks) are used extensively when one requires a swing gate to be locked. This is usually in the closed position but in some cases can also be used in the open position. Mag locks can be used on single leaf swing gates and double leaf swing gates.

Magl locks are not suitable for any solar swing gate installations. An electric solenoid lock would be required for solar applications.

Electric gate locks are required on all swing gate installations where a single gate leaf is 2.5m or wider, where high winds are present (on any size gate leaf), where there is a high level of cladding on the gate (which creates an effect of a big sail) and in any case where the gate is required to be locked.

Mag locks come in different sizes (force categories) ranging from 180kgf to 600kgf and are magnetised (locked) when power is applied to the lock.

Queensland Gate Automation recommends using a relay in all cases with an electronic lock.

A separate power supply is required for a Mag Lock when used with FAAC gate motors.
